Created out of deep red earthenware, the facial features come to life, bringing with them a sense of reality and poise. Carefully executed and designed, the artist has been able to capture the true essence of a man. The designs on the face mark the importance of the person, while at the same time displaying the artistic ingenuity of the artist himself. The hair is done more symbolically than realistically, yet the sculptured lines lead directly to the entrance of the vessel. The facial features themselves are creatively molded, giving the object great three-dimensional qualities, while at the same time bringing together great realism and subtlety. Such apiece explores the boundaries of art and the connection between the art and the artist leaving the onlooker to become aware of both and realize that they are one and the same. - (PF.3759)
