| Description |
This handsome seated male, in the Ameca style,
shows obvious distress in his face. As he holds
his head with one hand, the wide-open eyes and
open mouth, showing teeth suggest discomfort
of some kind, and the beautiful aquiline nose
seemingly accentuates the effects, as does the
burnished red earthenware. As his body leans
forward, his other arm is stretched out as if
reaching for something or perhaps someone?
Across his body is a bag created in low relief,
perhaps carrying mushrooms. What could cause
such a look of anguish? We can only guess, as
the truth will remain with this handsome figure
eternally.
