JB.1345. Bowl, hammered and raised brass with engraved decoration and inside at the base reveals traces of gilding. Nearly hemispherical in shape, with an incurved rim which has an epigraphic band running all around written in nasta’liq. Below, among the scrolls there are faces of female figures, all shown wearing Safavid type headgears, imitating contemporary miniature paintings. Inside there is a large round medallion at the base presenting a blossoming flower. Originally the base may have been gilt. Iran, Safavid period, 17th or 18th century. Prof. Geza Fehervari Prof. Geoffrey King - (JB.1345)
