Simple and abstract, yet clearly for specific and intentional use, this drummer musician is one with his drum and alive with spirit. Close your eyes imagine the drumbeats playing ceremoniously for ritual and burial. The simple lines infer unity with the drum and with the experience-taking place. This drummer was buried along with the deceased, as the tomb and its contents symbolize a complete closure of a time, a life, and a burial and the beginning of a voyage into the unknown. The complete mystery of the unknown afterlife goes hand in hand with the abstraction in the artistic style. Today, the mystery continues, even though we have found the tombs and artifacts of a people long gone. Where have their spirits gone and where will our go? Into the unknown... - (PF.2710)
