Description
With an introspective expression on her face, this woman holds an offering bowl for the dead in her lap. Centuries ago, a real woman must have placed this mourning figure in a tomb to accompany the deceased through eternity in her stead. We still feel in this small effigy the lingering sadness of that ancient woman. We recognize when we gaze upon her today that the basic human emotions are timeless and universal. - (PF.1207)
