Description
This mask was worn as pendant or as arm mask by Bwami initiates at the highest level, the Kindi (males only.) This mask was also kept in the basket of objects which the Kindi Bwami member had attained. This mask was believed to have intrinsic and sacred power. The social and political life of the Lega (also known as the Warega) is regulated by the Bwami society, to which both men and women belong. There are seven levels for men, four levels for women. - (DA.460)
