Description
We know nothing about the people who held this lovely vessel when it was new except that they followed the Christian faith. No doubt the jug was used in church ritual; perhaps it held wine or anointing oil. From these few clues, however, we are able to imagine almost an entire world, vastly different from our own and yet linked to the present by an unbroken chain of human hopes and dreams. - (GF.0028)
