This impressive vessel demonstrates the combination of artistry and skill that are required to create a true work of art. The terracotta is delicately covered with a beautiful white paint that highlights the important markings on the jaguar. The jaguar itself stands on a circular base, allowing more stability throughout the whole piece. The vessel is divided into a series of registers, delineated by charming geometric patterns that were carefully executed. The function of such apiece is clearly for ceremonial purposes, which also explains its beautiful condition from which we learn and grow. - (PF.4088)
