Description

This bold and splendid figure is naked save for his shield and short sword. Is he a warrior deity, the Iberian equivalent of Mars, or some more common soldier asking the gods for victory on the battlefield? With his light weaponry, he seems to hang between defiance and vulnerability, a man willing to face the odds come what may. These are very human traits-- unchanged by the passage of centuries--with which we can all identify. - (FZ.053)
