Chinesco figures--so named because of a
resemblance to oriental sculpture--seem
somehow more shy and reserved than most West
Mexican terracottas. If only they would speak,
what fantastic tales they might relate of the lost
and mysterious world from which they come.
Even in silence, the quiet dignity of this little
woman charms us.
