Description |
LO.690 (or 691 on the list). Inkwell (mihbara,
dawat), cast brass with engraved and copper
inlaid
decoration. Cylindrical body with a flat base,
there
are three freely-moving rings on the body
which
correspond to the three small hooks on the
sides of
the cover. The body is decorated with three
pointed-arched cartouches, displaying pair of
peacocks with twisted necks, their bodies are
partially inlaid with copper; each of these
cartouches
are flanked by four small floral decorated
roundels.
The base is richlky decorated by tree
elongated
cartouches showing running animals, they are
interrupted by small roundels. The flat part of
the
cover presents a benedictory epigraphic
band,
written in thuluth style, while the central
domical
part has six large petals which are outlined in
copper inlay.
