Banded agat intaglio mounted in an 18 karat
gold ring.
Selene was the ancient goddess of the moon and
of hunting. Daughter of Hyperion and Theia,
Selene's name comes from selas, "bright light".
She is usually depicted being drawn by a pair of
winged horses harnessed to a chariot, the moon
rising above her head like a halo. Often the
subject of romantic poetry, this captivating
goddess makes a striking image on this ancient
stone intaglio. The natural banding of the stone
accentuates the masterful carving of this radiant
and evocative goddess. The wearer of this
stunning ring will most certainly radiate a bright
and magical presence not unlike that of the
ancient luminescent goddess herself.
