Large, sharp teeth are the most obvious and
impressive feature of this head. To emphasize
the animal's ferocity the cheeks are pulled back
quite far forming an attractive curved shape,
which balances geometrically with the large eyes.
Thick ridges on the sides of the nose
dramatically reveal the folds of skin created
when a jaguar snarls in self-defense. A
somewhat abstract quality is seen in the
elongated nose and short, stubby ears. The
sculptor has managed to convey not only the
power of an animal highly revered in Costa Rica,
but also its beauty. L. 35cm(15 1/2IN)
