This fellow seems to be making an open-armed
gesture of offering to the gods. He is rendered
with a naive, almost abstract style, which does
not detract from the warm, human aura he
projects. We understand that this simple
sculpture is a clue, a reminder of a long
forgotten life, of someone who--like ourselves-
-wanted his world to be the best, the happiest
possible. That person offered this gift in hopes
of gaining that happiness and centuries later we
can still identify with his dreams.
