Description |
Enclosed within a wreath, removed even from the angels, God the Father offers His blessings to His Son who joins Him in heaven. Below this mystical event, is the scene of the "protecting veil of the Mother of God", known in the Russian Orthodox faith as the Pokrov veil. Touches of green and blue enamel add realism and serve to bring the action forward. This sense of energy and movement is further heightened by the ornate floral details around the border. Each of the figures is given expressive treatment to emphasize their own character, helping to bring alive a mystical scene--as God the Father watches from above.
