Description
The physiognomy of this striking head is that associated with hunchback figures in the art of Colima; the horn further identifies him as a shaman, the magic man who communicated with the spirits - a position traditionally occupied by hunchbacks. This magnificent vessel clearly held an offering of great ritual significance to the society which buried it; in our world it still has the power to move us deeply. - (PF.0950)
