The physiognomy of this striking head is that
associated with hunchback figures in the art of
Colima; the horn further identifies him as a
shaman, the magic man who communicated with
the spirits - a position traditionally occupied by
hunchbacks. This magnificent vessel clearly held
an offering of great ritual significance to the
society which buried it; in our world it still has
the power to move us deeply.
