Description
The circular shape and incised decoration of this charming flask evoke the natural gourd forms which served as vessels in pre-ceramic times. The motif of gracefully curving lines which appears on either side of the flask probably represents a mythological beast. We do not need to understand it fully to appreciate its abstract elegance. The powerful simplicity and intriguing lines of such a vessel speak to us across all barriers of time and culture. - (K.069)
