| Description |
Wearing a striped skirt, a turban and jewelry, her
body adorned with geometric tattoos, this
striking woman shoulders an offering vessel.
One of a pair, she was buried in an ancient tomb
in a gesture of mourning and respect. Her duty
was to convey the eternal sorrow of abstract. Yet
in her expression—powerful and immediate, we
can read tangible emotion. Though we know
little else about the culture that created her, we
share with them human emotions that time and
progress have done nothing to alter.
