Swirling coils of gold dance around the braided
serpent bodies which terminate into ferocious
crocodile snouts. The centerpiece is a tarantula
with long legs and a large, thick body. Is it
admiration or wonder which sends us into a
whirlwind of excitement when faced with such
powerful forces of artistic ingenuity and
enigmatic supernatural imagery? There are three
swirling coils of gold depicted on the tarantula's
upper body which may symbolize a star
constellation. A group or cluster of stars may
have been mythologically associated with this
creature. A special decorative design has been
portrayed on its head above its peering eyes.
The entire composition is full of dynamic energy
and unexpected surprises. The shaman, priest,
nobility who may have worn this fabulous work
of art must have made a great statement by his
exquisite taste which can only be appreciated by
a kindred soul.
