Description |
When one comes across a work of art that shows
great uniqueness and rarity, one is immediately
drawn to it due to both fascination and
admiration. This is one such piece that evokes
such feelings. The idea of the turkey is
immediately present. The wings have been
molded onto the vessel itself and the head and
neck of the turkey has been applied onto the
body of the vessel. The artist has painted onto
the body of the vessel, the rest of the turkey,
including the legs and the patterning of the
feathers on the body. The polychrome helps to
create a realistic interpretation of the bird, thus
creating a connection with us due to its
familiarity. It is this type of familiarity that
charms us and demonstrates a link between us
and an era long ago.
