Description |
One of the most fascinating subjects of the art of
the Central American region is the diversity
shown in the subject matter of the pieces and
the fundamental interest in nature. This vessel
represents a turkey. Its distinctive beak and neck
are evident, while the legs and wings have been
painted onto the body of the vessel. The shape
of the vessel, with the bulbous center is a
favorite in this area, and the subtle polychrome
colors create an atmosphere of realism and allow
the contours of the vessel to be more evident.
The neck and base of the vessel itself,
demonstrate the popular geometric designs of
the area, exploring a wide field of possibilities,
and with it, linking us directly to the past.
