Description |
This charming work is the very epitome
of a rooster--proud and alert, as if
perpetually awaiting the dawn. In
antiquity, the cockerel was a favored
sacrifice to the gods, and this bronze
was probably a votive. We almost expect
him to burst out crowing at any minute.
