Since time began, in any culture, in any part of the world, there are images, which are universal. This tender depiction of motherhood could as easily be understood in ancient Egypt, Greece or china as in Pre-Columbian Peru. Though created half a world away, it is kin to images of Isis with the infant Horus, or the Madonna with the Christ child. Its simplicity makes it timeless. As we gaze upon this vessel, we understand that the essential heart of human civilization remains the same, no matter what else changes. - (K.105)
