Description
The great Italian artist Michelangelo once said that trapped inside every block of marble was a figure; his task as a sculptor was to free that figure from its bonds. The artists of Mezcala must have felt the same way about these stones, smoothed by millenia in shallow river beds. The figure and the stone seem at one, as if they were both created at the same time. - (PF.0740)
