Nayarit Sculpture of a Kneeling Woman - PF.0857 Origin: Western Mexico Circa: 300
BC
to 300
AD Dimensions:7.875" (20.0cm) high Collection: Pre-Columbian Style: Nayarit Medium: Terracotta
The open mouth and white-rimmed eyes of this
fasionably attired woman contain an expression
of awe. Whatever has caused her to kneel so
reverently through the ages must be a very
powerful force indeed, perhaps something as
vast and elemental as life and death. Her
awareness of these things heightens our own
perceptions of the unknown.
