Description
It is believed that the Shaman figures buried in the tombs of ancient west Mexico were meant to assist the transition into the afterlife, to act as guides between this world and that of the spirits. This splendid figure, with his horned hat, nose ring, body paint, and protective staff seems to take his duties seriously. His majestic appearance suggests a familiarity with something beyond the realm of mere mortals - (PF.0858)
