| Description |
A fierce, hypnotic energy radiates from this
magnificent seated warrior. A man in his
vigorous prime, he wears the regalia of battle:
studded arm and leg bands, a splendid crested
helmet, protective shorts and bold face paint. In
his right hand he once would have held a
weapon. Seated as he is, he is clearly not
engaged in combat, though his arms are spread
in a battlefield stance. Rather, he seems to be
recounting in vivid detail the battle fought just a
few hours earlier. Looking at him in his
expressive silence, we feel the heat of combat,
we hear the cries of men and the pounding of
war drums, we are caught up by powerful
emotions at fever pitch.
