Description
Depicted with flowing abstract lines, unusual proportions, and a minimum of detail, this ancient woman is not beatiful in the conventional sense. Her appeal, however, is very strong, radiating the power of the eternally feminine. Like the stone age Venuses of Europe, and the Astarte figures of Babylon, she offers the promise of fertility and eternal rebirth. The very survival of the human race seems to depend on her unabashed, unblushing sexuality. - (PF.1401)
