Description
A remarkable example of the fine craftsmanship in the Atlantic Watershed Zone of Costa Rica, this awe-inspiring amulet embodies the attributes of a bird as well as a monkey. This powerful figure, wearing the mask of a monkey, stands victoriously on top of another monkey as two double-headed serpents crown his head. Was this shaman with the wings of an eagle and the head of a monkey that had the strengths and characteristics of these animals? Or was it an amulet worn to obtain their powerful attributes? This is a rare and fascinating depiction that intrigues the beholder. - (PF.2802)
