Though crafted in a lively stylized manner, we
see reflected in this little figure a genuine human
life. It is as if the spirit of that ancient woman
who offered it as a gift had passed through the
centuries in the form of this richly-dressed
effigy. What we do not see directly, we have no
trouble imagining in the presence of this
charming piece.
