Jalisco Vessel in the Form of a Young Dog - PF.0393 Origin: Western Mexico Circa: 300
BC
to 300
AD Dimensions:7" (17.8cm) high Collection: Pre-Columbian Style: Colima Medium: Terracotta
This unusual, sausage-shaped dog has the
wrinkled face and half-closed eyes of a newborn
puppy. This is a sensitively observed portrayal of
a still-helpless creature, just becoming aware of
the larger world, and a superb example of Jalisco
ceramic naturalism.
