| Description |
This figure wears a yoke and a palma, part of the
paraphernalia of the ancient ballgame, around
his waist. This heavy equipment was designed to
give a weight handicap to a player in what was
already a difficult, exhausting, and frequently
fatal sport. This fellow stands in a reverent
attitude, as if invoking the gods before play
begins.
