A human head appears at the top of this
beautifully contoured, rich vermilion bowl. Traces
of resist painting indicate that he wore an
elaborate cloth mantle. But in which direction is
the metamorphosis taking place? Has the man
shed his limbs and ballooned gracefully into a
bowl, or is the bowl slowly taking on a human
life of its own?
