Wearing a dark skirt and with evidence of heavy
painting or tattoos on her breasts, this woman
appears in a somewhat mysterious pose that
occurs frequently among Jalisco tomb figures.
She grips the back of her head and flings her
other arm out before her. What does it mean? Is
it a gesture of mourning, or is it simply designed
to show her beauty to advantage.
