Like some primordial spirit, this crouching amorphous figure seems to have escaped from the bowels of the earth. It is natural to associate effigies like this with the Mother Goddess, as if it had sprung directly from her loins. It bears a striking likeness to Chalcholithic idols discovered in the Golan Heights, whose associations are also with fertility. Even if we knew nothing about this piece, our intuition would tell us that it was laden with magic. - (PF.0757)
