The globular body of this vessel constricts, and
then moves up to a flared mouth. A striated
appliquéd band encircles the base of the neck
where it joins the base of the lower bowl.
Appliquéd to the top of the hollow rattle legs,
are modeled deer. They are strikingly formed
with prominent ears and antlers, their features
having been incised. The whole vessel has been
decorated in red and black slip. The resulting
object is not only one of aesthetic appeal, but
also a direct link with the culture and beliefs of
the ancients.
