The design of this vessel is a particularly
charming one, with the mother monkey and her
young. The opening of the vessel is in the center,
supported by the four legs of the figure. Her tail
is wrapped around the neck of the vessel, as if to
support it. The whole vessel is colored in a
beautiful russet that accentuates the decoration
done in black and beige.
The mother looks directly ahead as if in search of
something, while her two young cling onto her
on either side. Both of the young look in both
directions with the similar gaze of the mother.
The piece as a whole, is incredibly well executed,
showing expression both on the part of the piece
and of the artist, who has been able to capture a
true sense of art within this vessel, while
establishing a timelessness as well.
