Description |
Wearing layers of clothing wrapped around her in wavy folds, the Virgin holds an open scroll towards which she gestures with her right hand. Her head is tilted to the right in a posture of reverence; while the halo, stippled around the edge with a series of large circles, offers sanctity to her dignified appearance. She is surrounded by a rich background of intricate designs with traces of white and blue enamel, giving the impression of the sky and clouds peering through lush growth of vines and flowers. The scene is one of piety and humility blended with a sense of mystery.
