A delicate tracery of floral patterns
adorns the central disk of this ancient
jewel; four long chains with golden
links terminate in beads of colorful
glass. This piece was never intended to
adorn the shy or meek; it is an ornament
full of movement and life, which surely
belonged to an equally vibrant woman.
Though she has vanished into the mists
of time, when we hold her treasured
ornament we cannot help but remember
her. As we set the pendant chains
swaying, we imagine how it looked in the
lamplight on some long-forgotten
evening.
